What You Should Know When You Want To Renovate Wood Floors

Wood flooring is among the most popular floors around the globe because of its numerous advantages. If proper repair and maintenance is observed, the floor can serve you for a very long time without the need its replacement. After many years, you might need to call an expert who knows how to properly renovate wood floors. Below are signs that will tell you that your floor needs reconditioning and not repair.

Avoid exposing your floor to water constantly. Though sometimes it might be due to natural disasters like flooding, water does not do wooden floor any good. Contact with water causes the floor to buckle and eventually starts peeling. The water will also cause the floor to rot, and you will have no option than just to replace it.

Refinishing is done every 2-3 years or depending on the condition of the floor. Though refinishing makes the floor looks good and shiny, with time, it will thin due to the sanding which eventually exposes nails which makes the floor look worse. When it comes to this, you should consider investing in a new floor.

With time you might get bored of your current flooring design and decide to have a new design installed. Unlike the usual wooden planks which are usually 2.25 inches, you can go for the new sizes which are usually 4-5 inches to enhance your new design.

Maybe you bought a house, but you really do not like the type of wood material that was used in the flooring. You can have a contractor install a new one. The materials range from an oak tree, Brazilian Cherry, maple and bamboo.

All wooden floorings are given a lifespan after which you are supposed to install a new one. A wooden floor, due to age will start rotting or the planks will be unstable and loose. When it has served you for the period it is required, repairs might be very frequent and expensive. Consider having a new one, but before you do, there are certain facts that you need to know.

Wood is a material that is absorbent by nature. These floorings are best worked on during the dry season. This is mainly because during the humid and wet seasons, the new floor might absorb moisture and it might take longer to dry. If you are renovating the whole house, you should end with your floor.

There is nothing like a neat renovation process. Reinstalling your old floor and having another one installed is a messy process and you should probably cover your things because dust will spread even to rooms that are not being worked on. Ventilation is of great importance at this juncture because you will also have to deal with the unpleasant smell of polyurethane.

Instead of having to deal with what is going on around the house, the best option would be to move out till all is done. This is very necessary especially if there are children in the picture. You can be popping in as much as you want to check on the development.
