A Guide To Using A Menstrual Cup Properly

There are convenient, sanitary and healthier options for women regarding their monthly menses. The menstrual cup has been regarded as a ground breaking revolution. As its popularity grows, there is need to learn how to use it properly. You will avoid mishaps and walk in confidence regardless of your situation. Here is an expert guide on how to use the cup.

Read instruction carefully. Each manufacturer provides a brochure on how to use the cups effectively. The instructions include demonstration on how to insert, manage and remove. You will also get signs of danger, activities you can engage, procedure for removing, emptying, etc. Read through the instructions and do not assume that it is obvious.

Be strict on hygiene when using cups. The vagina is extremely sensitive. Moon cups should therefore be cleaned thoroughly and be dried before insertion. The areas most prone to dirt are finger nails. Use warm water in cleaning the nails ensuring that the water is perfume free. To ease insertion, the chalice is collapsed to size.

The collected fluid should be emptied in a tidy and hygienic manner. The frequency of emptying depends on the stage of the cycle. If your flow is intense, you might need to empty it more often. As the flow reduces, the frequency also reduces. People dispose the collected fluid in all manner of ways. Some use it in art while others water their gardens. Whichever method you choose, ensure that it is safe and hygienic.

Removing the chalice gets the hands of most women bloody which is not desirable. It feels gross when the fluid spills to the ground. This may be caused by the flexible and tender nature of cups. You might need to find an alternative way of handling your menses if this experience feels gross. This way, you will avoid the mess while still taking care of your menses.

There are people who find it challenging to pee or go for a long call with the chalice on. Unlike tampons, it does not come with a dangling string. You are also required to remove and insert the cup often. There is not danger when you use the toilet with the cup on. Frequent removal and insertion may increase the chances of contamination and infections.

The chances of vaginal infections are high. After all, you have inserted a foreign body into your system. There is a likelihood of introducing bacteria inside the virginal canal. This should, however, not be a cause for worry. Wash and rinse the chalice before use. Dry it completely to avoid altering the PH of the canal since it exposes you to infections.

Using the cup while under IUD may be problematic. The hanging thread might be misplaced in the process, exposing you to unplanned pregnancy. Since this report is not conclusive, inform your gynecologist that you are on IUD. It is also safe to have sex while it is still on. It will depend on the comfort of your partner who might not like a cluttered tiny space.
